Attendance

  • Be in school every day so you don’t miss important instruction.

  • If you are ill and unable to attend school:

    • Check your teachers' Google Classrooms for assignments in order to stay on track with your class.

    • Check with your teachers when you return to school.

    • Be responsible by submitting your completed work to your teachers.

Time Management

Use your time effectively.

  • In class:

    • Pay attention and listen carefully.

    • Take notes to help you remember important information and to reference when doing homework.

    • Ask questions if you don’t understand or need further explanation.

    • Participate in class discussions to help stay focused and engaged.

  • At home:

    • Set up a realistic routine that you can follow.

    • Be as consistent as possible.

    • Break down big projects into smaller chunks so you don’t get overwhelmed.

    • Allow for enough time to complete your work so you don’t have to rush.

Assignments

  • Label one pocket for your planner and all assignments "to do".

  • Label the opposite pocket for all completed assignments "to turn in".

  • Use your planner every day to stay organized.

  • Make a "homework folder" to bring to each class and take home each day:

    • If you have questions or need clarification, ask your teacher ahead of time.

    • Be sure to ask for help whenever needed.

  • Review your work before you submit it.

  • Complete all homework on time to get full credit and stay on track.

Reading

  • Skim material before reading – pay attention to bolded words, vocabulary, and headings.

  • Preview questions so you know what to look for when reading.

  • Highlight important points and take notes.

  • Limit distractions.

  • Clear the area.

  • Don’t use phone, television, etc. during your study time.

  • Start studying several days ahead of time and quiz yourself regularly.

  • Take short breaks to help you maintain your focus for longer periods.
