Parkway Orchestra Supply List

Welcome to 7/8 Orchestra!  We are looking forward to a wonderful year of music-making with you.  In order to be prepared for rehearsals and lessons, please make sure you have the following materials:

Provided by Mrs. Ruggio & Mrs. Ostrander:

  • Folder
  • Sheet Music for concerts and rehearsals
     

All Students:

  • Instrument (if you are in need of borrowing a school instrument, please contact Mrs. Ruggio as soon as possible – preferred contact: mruggio@wboro.org or via ParentSquare.)

  • Rosin, a cleaning cloth and pencils

Recommended: Clip-on tuner (can be purchased online through Shar Music, Amazon or at your local music store, such as Big Apple Music in New Hartford). Recommended tuner brands include Shar Mini Clip-on Tuner (violins/violas), Shar Clip-on Tuner (cellos/basses) or Snark X Tuner (all instruments).

Violin Students:

  • Shoulder Rest – recommended brands are Kun and Everest

  • Sound Innovations for String Orchestra – Book 2 – Violin (red cover art)

  • Suzuki Violin School, Volume 2 (blue cover art) – optional but recommended for students who plan to attend NYSSMA Solo Festival

Viola Students:

  • Shoulder Rest – recommended brands are Kun and Everest

  • Sound Innovations for String Orchestra – Book 2 – Violin (red cover art)

  • Suzuki Viola School, Volume 2 (purple cover art) – optional but recommended for students who plan to attend NYSSMA Solo Festival

Cello Students:

  • Cello Chair Strap

  • Sound Innovations for String Orchestra – Book 2 – Cello (red cover art)

  • Suzuki Cello School, Volume 2 (green cover art) – optional but recommended for students who plan to attend NYSSMA Solo Festival

Bass Students:

  • Rock Stop          
  • Sound Innovations for String Orchestra – Book 2 – Bass (red cover art)
  • Suzuki Violin School, Volume 2 (tan cover art) – optional but recommended for students who plan to attend NYSSMA Solo Festival

If you will need to borrow from Mrs. Ruggio, your other instrument specific accessories (shoulder rest, chair strap, rock stop, rosin) will be provided as well.

Any of the above materials which students are responsible for can be purchased at Big Apple Music in New Hartford, NY or online at www.sharmusic.com.  Books can also be purchased on Amazon, but please take note that you are ordering the correct editions.

The books needed for 7th grade will be utilized for both 7th and 8th grade at Whitesboro Middle School.
