Social Studies - Jones
Zachary Jones
Hello Whitesboro Community! My name is Zachary Jones and I teach 7th grade social studies on the Middle School campus. I started my journey here at Whitesboro in the fall of 2019 and have absolutely loved my time here. In my time outside of school, I enjoy coaching Football and Track, as well as working out, hiking and spending time with my family!
My 7th grade
course is a focus on American History leading up to the Reconstruction Period that followed the Civil War. We will also focus heavily on New York State’s involvement in the development of our Nation. Cooperation, organization, and patience are the three keys to a successful class. In social studies, students are confronted with questions about humankind and the wonder of the world. What do we have in common? What makes us different? What are our responsibilities to ourselves? To society? What will it be like in the future? Where have we failed and what do we need to change? In short, social studies helps students to recognize their roots, see connections to the past, comprehend text, recognize commonality of people across time, appreciate the delicate balance of rights and responsibilities in an open society and in time develop habits of thoughtful analysis and reflective thinking.
